High School Youth

High School Youth (grades 9-12) Alert!  Find your SPARX at Faith Lutheran Church... Read on for the details on how to spark up your life through Serving or Playing Always Recognizing Christ!

SPARX (Serving or Playing Always Recognizing Christ) has a variety of activities for high school youth.  Fellowship events planned by youth in the past are Laser Tag, Bonfires, Messy Games, Trip to the City Museum, a movie night and more.  Service events have included the Be Like Jesus Servant Event where we not only serve people in our community, but also hone our leadership skills by leading a small group of elementary school youth.  Each year youth have a couple of opportunities to participate in an impact event in the summer through a Mission Trip or Leadership Lab.  The Youth House is a cozy hangout designated for our youth and packed with comfy couches, a pool table, ping pong table and much more.

Sunday School- (9:30 a.m. Sunday mornings...) For High School Youth, grades 9-12, Sunday School is relaxed, conversational discussion group led by two trusted adults that meets in the Youth House.  High School youth can also attend the Adult Sunday School classes.  During the summer, a multi-age Sunday School is offered after the Children's Sermon at 9:30 a.m. worship giving High School Youth an opportunity to lead and to interact with younger children and older adults.

Serving: High School Youth may choose to serve in many ways during worship as a reader, cantor, usher, host or communion assistant.  Mission trips, Property Work Days, Feeding Nicaragua, teaching Sunday School or helping with VBS are other ways to be involved in serving others.  The opportunities are endless.

Music Programs- The Adult Choir and Handbells welcome High School Youth participation. Other music opportunities may be playing in the Youth Winds Plus, Faithful Flutes, Triumphant Brass, or the Jazz Band. Check the Bulletin Announcements or Newsletter for meeting times.

The Youth House: The Youth House is a wonderful facility on the church property that used to be the parsonage. It was renovated in 1998 and converted into a safe and comfortable place for youth to hang out with their friends. The Youth House has many resources for youth of all ages to enjoy -- TV's, DVD/VCR players, ping-pong table, pool table, foosball table, a karaoke machine and many other games and activities which have been donated by the  people of Faith Lutheran Church. Many of the Youth and Family Ministry activities occur in the Youth House or on the outdoor space adjacent to the Youth House.
